Super Models, But Not the Good Kind.

Just a quick post to show this photo of a few of my models for Pssst!. In the center is a Sculpey head I made of my human character, Zooey, and she's flanked by a couple of nice little toys from Schleich. These, in conjunction with a lot of photos of real animals, helped me paint.

So Good!! It really helps to have a good reference and these are wonderful! Great job!

This is great. Do you usually like to sculpt just the head for refenece or sometimes do the whole body?

Usually just the body. At this scale, a full figure of Zooey would only be 9 or so inches high, with wrists and ankles about a centimeter wide. She'd just end up breaking on me over and over I imagine, so it seems like a lot of trouble when I could get better reference photographing an actual person for figure poses anyway.
Not that I did that much–I really just winged it with the human figures in this book.

What a great idea to use Sculpey for modeling.
