Sorry.

Okay, it seems I owe some of you an apology.

Ever since Adam died I’ve been insisting that he absolutely is NOT one of the legion of the undead, but then he stopped by last night and sort of broke it to his mother and me. It’s not a choice he made, it’s just who he is now. I think we’ll get used to it, in time.

And I guess he really has written a vampire book. He gave us a copy, which he insisted we begin reading immediately while he watched us with those smoldering eyes of his. I like it all right, but it’s not really his mother’s cup of tea.

Maybe you people will like it better. Here's an excerpt.

Dear Adam's Dad,

I am sorry to hear about your undead son; I'm sure that must worry you--although perhaps it's a relief after thinking he was plain dead.

Although I have no personal attachment to Adam, I was crushed to hear that he had left West Philly for Arizona. Arizona... Undead... not much difference from where I stand.

My wonderful husband bought me FAT VAMPIRE yesterday, when I didn't even know it had been written! Unfortunately, I had to go to work so I haven't read much of it yet. I like it so far, but my main complaint is that it isn't Smekday, possibly my favorite book of all time. I guess Adam would have got in trouble if he wrote Smekday twice? Pity.

Will Adam be signing books in the Philly region any time soon? I don't mind wearing garlic to a dark-of-night signing...

Dear Major Lamp-Gristle,

It's my understanding that certain parties would actually be interested in Adam writing Smekday twice, but that he thought it would be tacky.

I don't think he has any Philly plans currently, but readers of this blog will be the first to know.
