SCBWI Summer Conference

I was asked to be a member of the faculty of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators Summer Conference that took place in LA a week ago. I had a really good time, and met all kinds of great people, and saw some great folks I don't get to see often enough. But I never bring a camera to these sorts of things, so the picture that Lisa Yee sent me of the two of us together will have to do. Please understand that I have my arm around Lisa here, but in a larger sense also have my arm around all the good people of the SCBWI, and around LA in general.
Read a much better wrap-up of the conference on Lisa's blog.

I also got to play with Lisa's Peepy:

Hey Adam! Joanne Renaud here. It was so great meeting you. Thanks again for the advice, the portfolio look-over and the awesome picture of Cthulu. My friend is thrilled, and says it's the best birthday gift ever.

I posted it to my Livejournal here. It's the cutest tentacled monster ever. Have you ever thought of doing a Cthulu picture book?

Hey Adam. Congrats on the new book! I didn't expect it untill September but I found it today and snatched it up! Once again you did a fantastic job. I especially love your opening comic and Frankenstein's Mother In-law. So true... Oh and Frank's shoes are perfect.

Hello, man whose every work is genius,

We spoke only long enough for me to say I would send photos from your summer conference talk, which, by the way, was hilarious and energizing. So those are up now at my blog, and (if you like) you should also check out the second album there, since I took more photos of your talk than anything else.

Enjoy (and I hope your wife likes these, too!),

As if your picture books aren't enough, I am now enthralled with The True Meaning of Smekday.

Hi, Adam! There are a few more pics of you over at my blog.

Also, it was great to meet you, and thanks for signing Pssst! for me. I'm still kicking myself for not bringing my copy of Smekday too.

I told my daughter about your cool wife. Have you guys heard about the free NASA astonomy workshop for writers, LaunchPad?
