The Mystery of the Unfinished Cover

Thought I'd share some of the preliminary sketches I completed for The Brixton Brothers: The Case of the Case of Mistaken Identity, which is officially published today!

Even though Amazon has been shipping it for weeks.

As you can possibly see, we were toying around with another figure here–a female librarian either commanding the commandos or trying to fell Steve Brixton with a dart gun. I thought it was getting too busy and pushed to remove her. Hope I made the right decision.

I think you made the right decision. The additional figure adds a little too much and interrupts the flow of the piece.
Especially the one where the librarian is having a sneaky cigarette under the table.

Haha! Is that a blow dart? I like the idea of a librarian controlling ninjas--but I think it looks better without. I like the creepy dude in the book stacks, so it's a better focus. Uh.. not that my opinion really matters. lol

This is such a cool cover. I was looking at the color version the other day just thinking about how much it looked like John Cleese reaching through that bookshelf to snatch that kid!!!
